Course Objectives

The seminar will provide a clear insight into the cause and effect of emotions, the distinction between emotion and feelings and how both can be harnessed to enhance management and leadership capacities. See how emotional intelligence fits as the missing link, how all social competencies are influenced by the ability to manage emotional states

Anyone with management responsibilities who wishes to develop skills in handling the emotional aspects of interpersonal relationships and the motivation of others

Course Overview

Understanding Emotions
What is emotional Intelligence? Recognising, and understanding our own, and other people’s emotions. What is emotion? Where does emotion come from? The role of emotions, and feelings in decision-making.
Personal Competencies
Identifying and assessing the personal competencies of EQ. Cultivating self-awareness and the ability to control our own and others feelings, needs and concerns. .Empathy- its essential role in managing and leading others. Building collaborative relationships. Resolving emotional exchanges in conflict situations.
Skill Development
The social skills of influence, commitment and conflict management. Building trust and commitment by emotional allegiance. The empathic response. The art of non-judgemental and reflective listening. Drawing out facts, feelings and meaning in an emotionally charged situation.
